News Editor - Crosby
News Editor needed for award-winning weekly newspaper in Crosby, ND. Looking for a candidate with about three years of community journalism experience to be the primary news gatherer for The Journal in Crosby, and also work into supervisory role of one or two other news/sports staffers at our sister publication, the Tioga Tribune. Position will pay up to $35,000 per year for the right candidate, who would also have some aptitude for layout of two sports pages per week. This position requires a great deal of energy and ability to take responsibility and initiative. Health, retirement, vacation and sick leave. A housing stipend will also be negotiable. Assistant Editor - Jamestown
The Jamestown Sun, a six-day daily, is seeking an assistant editor. Applicants must have strong editing skills, design skills and exceptional news judgment. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, knowledge of newspaper design, pagination software and a strong understanding of AP style. Skills with social media, photography, video and computers are also desired. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license with a driving record that is insurable by the company. The assistant editor will manage the newsroom in the absence of the managing editor, participate in editorial writing, help develop story ideas, assign stories, assist in layout and proofing and lead the newspaper’s digital presence. This position includes some evening work along with a rotating weekend schedule. Regional Sports Reporter/Editor - Crosby/Tioga
Regional Sports Reporter/Editor: Journal Publishing is looking for a candidate to cover Class B High School sports for The Journal, Crosby and the Tioga Tribune, year round, full time. Crosby also has an active amateur hockey program, with American Legion Baseball programs in both towns. The candidate would be responsible for coordinating coverage by freelancers, communicating with coaches, writing content, and learning how to do the layout for a sports page in each paper. Some feature or general news reporting assignments would fill in time during off seasons.
