Managing Editor- Watford City

The McKenzie County Farmer, an award winning weekly newspaper in Watford City, N.D., in the heart of the Bakken Oil Field, is seeking a full-time managing editor. Areas of responsibility will include writing, editing, ad sales, photography and overseeing staff. Successful candidate must be flexible, attentive to detail, able to communicate well, possess writing and photography skills, and be able to function well with InDesign and Photoshop. Must possess leadership skills, news judgement, and be able to work under pressure. Must be a self-starter. Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field, as well as experience in the newspaper industry preferred. A passion for community journalism is required. Watford City is located in western North Dakota and is an outdoor recreation paradise being just minutes from Lake Sakakawea, Theodore Roosevelt National Park and the National Grasslands. Multimedia sports journalist - Bismarck

The Bismarck Tribune has an immediate opening for a multimedia sports journalist. The ideal candidate will be adept at covering a wide range of events and meeting tight deadlines. The Tribune covers six local high schools, three colleges along with auto racing, junior hockey, a Northwoods League baseball team and an Indoor Football League team. We also cover numerous area high schools. Candidates need to be digital savvy. The job involves writing for print and digital products, producing video and doing desk work. Bismarck is North Dakota’s capital and the state’s second-largest city.
